European Night of Museums 2011

Almost 3,000 museums in 40 European countries open on Saturday, May 14th, 2011 as part of the European Night of Museums. They are all free and stay open all night. Over 40 museums all over Romania will await visitors through the night, organizing diverse exhibitions, performances, screenings and interactive events, according to the official website of the event, www.noapteamuzeelor.ro.

In Brasov, there are two events planned:

Muresenilor House Museum

Mureșenilor House Museum (Piata Sfatului #25) will open its doors starting at 18.00 till 23.00 for instrumental vocal recitals, dance representations and theater plays, as well as for its permanent exhibitions "Mureșenilor Family History" and "House Music" and a temporary exhibition "Witness to a Century of Romanian Hebrew".

The White Tower, Graft Bastion and the Blacksmiths' Bastion

These Brasov's landmarks will open its doors at 21.00 till 04.00 with free access for all the visitors who know for how many years the European Night of Museums is celebrated. Medieval sonnets, theater plays, presentation of medieval activities, public conferences and various animations will take place at the sight of these historical monuments.

It's a great event to participate in to get a colorful insight into the local history, culture and traditions. Definitely must see events if you are in Brasov!
